
A/Prof Kate Lynch and A/Prof William Tam attended United European Gastroenterology (UEG) Week in Berlin, commencing on 4 October 2025. UEG Week is a four-day annual international congress that brings together digestive health experts from around the world to share the latest multidisciplinary research and clinical advancements.
A/Prof Lynch attended alongside her PhD student, Damjana Bogatic, who presented her research paper examining the effect of gut decontamination on faecal microbiota transplantation in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.

Gastroenterologist and hepatologist, Dr Damian Harding, has recently returned from Timor-Leste, where he was part of a team of Australian gastroenterology doctors and nurses undertaking teaching and clinical work at the national hospital in the capital city, Dili.
Since 2018, Dr Harding has travelled regularly to Timor-Leste, and more recently to Kiribati in 2024, with ANZGITA (the Australian and New Zealand Gastroenterology International Training Association). ANZGITA works to improve health outcomes across developing nations in the Asia-Pacific region by building local capacity to treat gastrointestinal and liver diseases and by enhancing standards of gastroenterology practice.
During their recent visit to Dili, the team greatly enjoyed working in the beautiful capital city alongside dedicated local clinicians, managing a wide range of challenging emergencies and complex clinical cases. Damian and the team are already looking forward to returning next year.

EUS Australia 2025 is a state-of-the-art, national one-and-a-half day workshop focused on the current and future utilities of endoscopic ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of various gastroenterological disorders. This important workshop aims to bring together international and national experts in the field to update, discuss, and demonstrate the utility of EUS in clinical practice.
The workshop was held in Canberra Hospital on 29th of March 2025.
