Dr Biju George completed his advanced training in Gastroenterology from the Christian Medical College Vellore, India, one of the top ranked educational, healthcare and research institutes in the country specialising in advanced state of the art medical and endoscopic technologies. Since 2000, he has been actively involved in both academic and clinical gastroenterology and Hepatology, including becoming the faculty in charge of Endoscopy services at the Christian Medical College. During this period, Dr George acquired vast knowledge and experience managing various gastrointestinal diseases, such as irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and numerous liver conditions, including complex hepato-biliary, pancreatic and hepatitis disorders.
Dr George went on to take up further study and training and holds a Doctor of Medicine degree in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He became Fellow in Gastroenterology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2006 where he continued his training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy. He was appointed as a Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in 2008 and continues to work for NALHN both at Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals. Dr George holds the Fellowship of both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. He is also a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia. Dr George actively partakes in the teaching and training of medical students, mentoring and supervision of advanced trainees in Gastroenterology, conducts endoscopic research and organizes medical conferences and workshops. He has published both in national and international medical journals. His special clinical interests include therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP and colonoscopy.
