Dr Asif Chinnaratha completed his advanced training in Gastroenterology in Western Australia. In 2013, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He then completed another year of subspeciality training in hepatology with the Liver Transplant unit at Flinders Medical Centre. He completed his PhD with the Flinders University of South Australia, exploring the effects of hepatitis B viral infection and its complications in South Australia.

Dr Chinnaratha is a consultant Gastroenterologist and hepatologist at the Lyell McEwin Hospital. He has a special interest in hepatology and also provides general gastroenterology services at the hospital.

Dr Chinnaratha commenced consulting as a private Gastroenterologist in 2015 at Adelaide Gastrointestinal Specialists (AGIS). He is taking new referrals in all aspects of Gastroenterology, including bowel cancer screening, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, iron deficiency as well as liver issues, with only minimal waiting periods. He is committed to providing a timely and thorough service, including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy and capsule assessment of the small bowel. He consults from our main rooms in Eastwood, and at Calvary Central Districts Specialists’ Consulting Suites at Elizabeth Vale. He has procedure lists at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital, Calvary Central Districts Hospital and Glenelg Community Hospital.
